Coon Cats Varieties
Cumberland Coon Ranch breeds healthy, cuddly Maine Coon kittens.

Polydactyl Kittens

Silver Tabby
Silver Maine Coons are a striking variety of the breed, characterized by a dilute, greyish-silver coat with a subtle tabby pattern. They are a result of the "dilute" gene, which can dilute black colors to grey or silver. While not uncommon, they are considered less common than more traditional colors like brown or blue tabby.
“Polydactyl” means multi-toed. The extra-large paws are nick named double-paws, because the paws are usually double-wide in size. With giant paws, polydactyl cats can walk through snow more easily: hence the nick-name of “snowshoe cat.” Early Maine Coons were thought to have an advantage in mousing due to their extra toes.
The expression of polydactyly can vary, with extra toes appearing on one paw, two paws, or even all four. The number of extra toes can also vary from paw to paw, with the maximum number of toes on the front being 7, and the maximum number of toes on
the back being 6. Our Coons have operational thumbs and know how to use them! They can open water faucets and doors!

Smoke Kittens
Smoke Maine Coons are a solid color cat that carries the inhibitor gene, which suppresses the color in the hair shaft. This means that the cat's hairs are dark (usually black) at the tips but have much lighter colored bands near the bottom. Pigmentation of the hair is concentrated at the tip of the hair, creating a visible contrast. All solid colors can be affected by the inhibitor gene which labels them “Smoke”. Smoke Maine Coon Cats have more than 33% of their hair ends colored and are considered rare.
Blue Maine Coons can exhibit a variety of coat patterns and shades within the blue spectrum, including: solid blue, blue tabby, blue-silver tabby, blue patched tabby, shell blue-cream, shaded blue-cream, blue-smoke, and blue-cream smoke. Each of these variations contributes to the breed's distinctive and captivating appearance. The fur is smoky grey and shimmering in appearance, and the ear tufts can be blue or white(ish). Like all other coat colors, the Blue Maine Coon can also have white on its body, a color registered as blue patched tabby.
Unique hues such as blue and silver are rare and frequently viewed as more exclusive, often leading to a higher market value than the more prevalent colors. Cumberland Coon Ranch has so far produced solid blues, blue smoke, blue patched tabby and blue tabby color.
